Distance is the wrong thing to optimise for. What matters is whether the buyer pays freight, and whether they specialise in distribution equipment.

01You Are Paid Before It Moves

Funds change hands before a single section leaves your property. There is no consignment and no waiting on a downstream resale.

02No Testing Is Required

You are never asked to test, energize, clean or repair the gear. Our team evaluates it from the nameplate photos and our own inspection.

03We Cover Freight and Rigging

Lowboys, flatbeds, cribbing, section separation and permits are billed to us. That cost is already priced into the offer you receive.

04Our Crews Handle Teardown

Disconnection coordination, dismantling, rigging out of the electrical room and loading are performed by our crews at our expense.

The instinct when you have switchgear to sell is to find somebody close, on the theory that a nearby buyer will pay more because their haul is shorter. In practice the opposite is often true. A local general scrap dealer prices your lineup by weight, because that is the only market they serve. A national switchgear specialist prices it by what the next owner will pay for that exact amperage, voltage class and breaker type, which is frequently several times the metal value.

We buy in every state and we cover the freight ourselves out of regional staging points, so the mileage between us and your site affects our margin rather than your number. A pickup in a small town a long way from the nearest interstate gets the same offer logic as one in a major metro.

That said, proximity does help scheduling. Because we run consolidated loads, gear that sits along a lane we already run can often be collected within days rather than weeks.

What to ask any switchgear buyer

  • Do you pay before the gear leaves my property, or after resale?
  • Who pays for teardown, rigging, freight and permits?
  • Do you require the lineup to be tested or energised before quoting?
  • Will the quoted price be re-traded when your crew arrives and sees the room?
  • Do you buy switchgear specifically, or all surplus equipment?
  • Can you separate sections and rig them out without damaging the building?

Front-accessible service entrance and distribution switchboards from commercial buildings.

Unit Substations

Close-coupled primary, transformer and secondary assemblies from industrial plants.

Motor Control Centers

MCC lineups with starter buckets, VFDs and combination starters from plants and utilities.

Circuit Breakers

Loose air, vacuum, insulated case and molded case breakers, individually or by the pallet.

Panelboards

Distribution and branch panelboards, loadcenters and column panels in bulk lots.

Outdoor Switchgear

Walk-in and non-walk-in weatherproof enclosures, pad-mounted and skid-mounted lineups.

Arc-Resistant Switchgear

Type 2B arc-resistant lineups with plenums and pressure relief, low and medium voltage.

Metal-Clad Switchgear

Compartmentalized drawout medium voltage gear with grounded metal barriers between sections.

Bus Plugs and Busway

Plug-in and feeder busway runs, elbows, tees and bus plugs from industrial ceilings.

Switchgear Scrap

Burned, gutted, flooded and unrepairable gear bought for copper and metal content.

What happens after you accept

We confirm the pickup window against your schedule, send our own crew and equipment, and pay you before anything moves. If a utility or licensed electrician disconnect has to happen first, we coordinate the timing. If the sections have to come apart to clear a doorway or an elevator, we do that work rather than asking you to arrange it.

Medium voltage lineups are treated with the care they require. We verify the gear is de-energised and grounded before our crew touches it, and we work to your site's lockout procedure rather than our own.

Questions we get asked

Straight answers

Do you charge anything to quote or to remove the gear?

No. Quoting is free and removal is our cost. If you accept our number, nothing comes out of your pocket at any stage.

How quickly can this happen?

A number usually comes back the same day you send photos. Pickup is typically within one to two weeks, and faster when you have a demolition date or lease deadline driving it.

What if I only have one section or a few breakers?

That is still worth a call. Small quantities are frequently best combined into a lot, but we buy single sections and loose breakers routinely.

Do you buy switchgear in every state?

Yes, all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We stage freight regionally, so location affects our scheduling rather than your price.
