Send a nameplate photo and receive a firm number, usually the same day. There is no obligation.
Funds change hands before a single section leaves your property. There is no consignment and no waiting on a downstream resale.
You are never asked to test, energize, clean or repair the gear. Our team evaluates it from the nameplate photos and our own inspection.
Lowboys, flatbeds, cribbing, section separation and permits are billed to us. That cost is already priced into the offer you receive.
Disconnection coordination, dismantling, rigging out of the electrical room and loading are performed by our crews at our expense.
What we look for in metal-clad switchgear
Metal-clad is the highest construction grade in medium voltage switchgear: every major component sits in its own grounded metal compartment, the breakers are removable drawout elements, and the primary bus is insulated throughout. It is what a specifying engineer chooses when the installation has to be maintainable while the rest of the plant stays energized.
That construction quality is why used metal-clad gear resells well. The compartments protect the components, the drawout breakers can be swapped between structures of the same design, and the documentation is usually good. We buy it out of plants, hospitals, campuses, refineries and utility substations.
Compartmentalized construction also makes our job easier. A metal-clad lineup separates cleanly at the section joints, which keeps the rigging cost down and lets us quote a whole row without guessing at how badly it will fight us on the way out.
| Voltage classes | 4.16kV, 13.8kV, 15kV, 27kV, 38kV |
|---|---|
| Breaker elements | Drawout vacuum and magnetic air |
| Construction | Grounded metal barriers, insulated primary bus |
| Bus amperage | 1200A through 4000A |
| Spare breakers | Bought with the lineup or loose |
| Section separation | Clean joints, lower rigging cost |
