Do you only buy Siemens switchgear?
No. We buy gear from every manufacturer. Brand affects the resale pool and therefore the price, but it never determines whether we are interested.
My Siemens nameplate is unreadable. Is that a problem?
Not a serious one. Photograph the lineup anyway. Construction, cubicle layout, breaker frames and bus arrangement tell us a great deal, and we can often identify the rating from other markings inside the gear.
Is older Siemens gear worth anything?
Frequently yes. Age matters far less than amperage, voltage class and condition. Equipment from the 1960s and 1970s was built heavy, and much of it is still in service today, which keeps demand for spare sections and breakers alive.
